GTA 6: PS5 named the ‘best’ place to play

A joint blog from Rockstar and Sony names PS5 the ‘best’ place to play Grand Theft Auto VI, citing DualSense haptics, Tempest 3D AudioTech and near-instant SSD loading.

Rockstar Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment published a joint blog announcing the PlayStation 5 will be the ‘best’ place to play Grand Theft Auto VI. The companies highlighted PS5 hardware features they say will enhance the single-player experience. GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, at a list price of $80, and preorders open at midnight local time.

The blog described a close partnership between Rockstar and Sony and said the PS5 version will leverage console technology to create a ‘deeply engaging single-player experience.’ The companies did not provide a full technical comparison with Xbox Series X|S versions.

Sony outlined how the DualSense controller will be used in the PS5 version. The controller will provide responsive vibrations through haptic feedback and offer dynamic resistance via adaptive triggers to reflect in-game actions and weapon feel. The controller’s integrated speaker will add sound effects that are paired with haptic feedback for certain encounters.

Audio on PS5 will use Tempest 3D AudioTech, which the blog described as delivering precise audio positioning. That feature is intended to help players locate sounds in dense environments and to emphasize distinct soundscapes across the game’s world of Leonida.

Sony also highlighted the PS5 solid-state drive, promising near-instant loading times across the open world. The faster loading is presented as a way to reduce downtime when moving between locations or after respawning.

As a preorder incentive tied to the collaboration, PS5 buyers who preorder GTA 6 will receive one month of the GTA+ subscription at no extra charge; the subscription can be redeemed immediately. The blog did not indicate the same automatic subscription offer for other platforms.

The companies did not detail any PS5 Pro-specific enhancements and said those technical specifics will be shared at a later date. Beyond the statement that PS5 will be the ‘best’ place to play, Rockstar and Sony provided no further feature-by-feature comparison with Xbox Series X|S.
