Halo: Campaign Evolved on PS5 — who can play early

Halo: Campaign Evolved, a full remake of the 2001 title, is available on PlayStation 5 today for players who bought the Premium Edition. The game is also released on Xbox Series X|S and PC; early access is limited to Premium Edition owners across supported platforms. The standard release for all players is scheduled for July 28, 2026.

The Premium Edition costs $69.99 and includes the base game, two additional armor packs, the Foundry Armory Pre-Order pack, the Alpha Halo Armory Pack, and a digital story and art collection. Purchasing the Premium Edition grants immediate access to the campaign prior to the wider launch.

The remake was rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 and delivers updated visuals and refined controls. On consoles the game supports two-player split-screen for local co-op and up to four-player online co-op for the campaign. Split-screen is limited to console versions.

Gameplay changes added for modern shooters include a sprint mechanic and nine additional weapons. Named additions among those weapons include the Energy Sword, the Battle Rifle, and the Needler. The release also expands challenge options with extra “skulls” that modify enemy behavior and game conditions.

The remake introduces three new prequel missions set before the events of the original campaign. Those missions add new environments, new characters and new enemy types to the game’s narrative context.
