Halo: Campaign Evolved requires accounts for split-screen co-op

Each split-screen player on Xbox Series X|S must sign in with a unique Microsoft account. On PS5 both local players need PlayStation Plus and must link to Microsoft accounts.

Halo Waypoint published a FAQ clarifying account and subscription requirements for Halo: Campaign Evolved ahead of the game’s late‑July launch.

The FAQ says that on Xbox Series X and Series S the second split‑screen player must sign in with a unique Microsoft account. The guidance also notes that online co‑op requires an active Xbox Game Pass subscription. Offline split‑screen on Xbox still requires two separate Microsoft accounts; the FAQ does not confirm whether a guest profile can substitute for a second account.

On PlayStation 5 the FAQ states, “If you’re playing split‑screen on PlayStation 5®, both accounts will need to have PlayStation Plus and be linked to a Microsoft account.” The published guidance says those PlayStation Plus subscriptions will also enable online co‑op on PS5.

Players who buy the Steam edition on PC must sign in with a Microsoft account to access any co‑op features, the FAQ says.

The Q&A includes additional launch details. Collector’s Editions have sold out and no further runs are planned. Prequel missions are available immediately when players start the game. The release will include a new third‑person mode. There will be no playable demo before the late‑July release.

The FAQ describes a new Difficulty Modifiers feature that lets each co‑op participant adjust settings for their own experience. “Difficulty Modifiers allow each player to adjust settings for themselves, which can help them have an easier time or a more difficult challenge,” the document reads.

The published Q&A lists technical and account requirements across Xbox, PlayStation and PC and directs players to Halo Waypoint for the full set of details.
