Hamster Eyes 800+ Console Archives Releases on Switch 2

Hamster Corp expects its Console Archives line for Switch 2 to surpass 800 releases, CEO Satoshi Hamada said after the company’s Arcade Archives series topped 500 titles.

Hamster Corporation founder and CEO Satoshi Hamada told in a recent interview that the company’s Console Archives series for the Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to surpass 800 releases. The comment followed Arcade Archives passing the 500-title mark.

Hamada noted Arcade Archives originally targeted 800 releases and has already exceeded 500 as the company issues retro arcade titles on a weekly schedule.

Console Archives launched in February 2026 on the Switch 2 with ports including Cool Boarders and Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos. The series added the strategy title Master of Monsters: Disciples of Gaia this week.

Hamada added: “Arcade Archives had a target of 800, and we’ve already done over 500. For Console Archives we want to beat that. Actually, now we feel like 800 titles should just be a point we pass along the way. Just in terms of the number of titles, there are a lot more home console games than arcade games, so we want to make a series where we can go further.”

Console Archives applies the same process used for Arcade Archives, adapting older home console releases for the Switch 2 and offering them through the console’s digital store. The company continues to secure licensing and porting agreements and maintains a frequent release cadence.

Other publishers have released retro collections and ports for modern platforms. Hamster plans to keep adding licensed console titles to expand the Console Archives library over time.
