Higurashi PSP Spin-Off Remastered for PS5

City Connection announced a PlayStation 5 remaster of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Jong REMASTER, a 2009 adventure spin-off linked to the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni franchise. The company set the Japanese release window for 2027 and confirmed language support for Japanese, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. Versions for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam are planned as well.

The remaster restores content that first appeared in the PSP release and updates graphics and presentation for modern hardware. The project includes a new scenario supervised by series creator Ryukishi07 and three distinct game modes.

Gameplay follows protagonist Keiichi Maebara and his friends through one-on-one Japanese mahjong matches. Match losses carry severe narrative consequences within the village of Hinamizawa. Players can employ in-game cheats to gain advantages during matches.

Oyashiro Mode is presented as the main mode, featuring high-stakes mahjong battles tied to the franchise’s darker storylines. Club Mode offers lower-pressure matches against familiar club members, with varied character combinations and penalty games; cheats are available in this mode. The PSP-exclusive Club Mode Extra: Paikuzushi Chapter returns in the remaster, allowing players to unlock special reward cutscenes by winning matches.

Beyond restored content, the remaster includes post-game bonus material. A Bonus Gallery will contain audio dramas, guest illustrations by notable artists and other unlockable extras aimed at dedicated players.

City Connection specified only a 2027 release window for Japan and has not provided an international release date.
