Infamous 2 loses UGC online support on Aug. 31, 2026
Sony will disable Infamous 2’s user-generated content features on Aug. 31, 2026, citing ‘ongoing technical considerations.’ Trophies tied to UGC missions will become unobtainable.
Sony will disable Infamous 2’s user-generated content (UGC) features on PlayStation 3 on Aug. 31, 2026. After that date, players will not be able to create, upload, browse, download or play community-made missions through the game’s online services. The core single-player campaign and the stand-alone Festival of Blood expansion will remain playable on PS3.
Several in-game trophies depend on the UGC system and will be impossible to earn after the online features are turned off. The affected trophies are Trail Blazer (play five user-generated missions under the Newest filter), UGC Curious (play 10 user-generated missions), UGC Veteran (play 25 user-generated missions), and Level Up (create a new mission using the UGC level editor). Each of these awards a Bronze trophy; players seeking the Platinum should complete the required tasks before Aug. 31, 2026.
Sony cited ‘ongoing technical considerations’ as the reason for the shutdown and did not provide further technical details. The company’s notice did not indicate any plan to preserve UGC files or provide a migration tool, so community-hosted content will no longer be accessible through official PlayStation servers after services end.
Infamous 2 launched for PlayStation 3 in June 2011, with the Festival of Blood expansion released in October 2011. The most recent main entry in the series is 2014’s Infamous: Second Son, which included a stand-alone expansion called First Light.
Players who rely on UGC for trophies or who want to preserve specific user-made missions need to act before the August 31, 2026 deadline.
