Infinity Ward: Modern Warfare 4 ‘Pretty Smooth’ on Switch 2

Infinity Ward says Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 runs “pretty smooth” on the Nintendo Switch 2. The studio announced the game for Switch 2 and other platforms earlier today, and studio head Jack O’Hara reported no problems matching features across systems.

O’Hara described the development sequence as straightforward: acquire the hardware, port the game, then optimize performance. He characterized the initial porting as “pretty seamless” and said the team moved quickly from the first build to performance tuning for the portable hardware.

Internal play tests compared Switch 2 builds directly with versions on other consoles and PC. Testers played the game against those platforms and found the experience “super fun,” O’Hara reported. He added there were “no problems to report” when it came to feature parity between Switch 2 and competing systems.

O’Hara also referenced his past work on Nintendo hardware, including Call of Duty releases on Wii U and earlier projects on Nintendo DS with developer n-Space. He called returning to a Nintendo platform “exciting,” particularly because Switch 2 is a portable system.

Infinity Ward said it is now concentrating on optimization and ensuring stable frame rates and consistent feature support across platforms. The studio did not provide a release date for the Switch 2 version, nor did it share technical targets such as resolution or frame-rate goals.
