Insider: Xbox has a scheduled new Crash Bandicoot game
An industry insider posted that a new Crash Bandicoot game is scheduled but will not be revealed yet. Xbox owns the franchise after acquiring Activision.
A leaker who recently posted about a Spyro return also posted that “a new Crash Bandicoot game is scheduled too, but will not be unveiled for the moment.” Microsoft and Activision have not confirmed the claim.
Xbox gained the Crash Bandicoot intellectual property when it acquired Activision. That acquisition brought studios such as Toys for Bob into Microsoft’s portfolio. Toys for Bob developed the franchise’s most recent mainline entry, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time.
The report does not identify which studio would lead the new project. It is unclear whether Toys for Bob, another Activision studio, or an external developer would handle the work. No development timeline or target platforms have been announced.
Internal scheduling information does not always mean a project has full approval. Plans within publishers can change and projects are sometimes kept confidential for long periods before any public reveal.
If a single studio is assigned multiple franchise projects, that can affect timing unless work is divided among teams. There is no public information confirming which teams, if any, are assigned to this title.
Last year a developer briefly uploaded then removed a banner showing new artwork of Crash Bandicoot in a racing car. Beyond that removed banner and the leaker’s post, there are no verified details about gameplay direction, platform targets, or whether the title would be a numbered sequel, a remake, or a spin-off.
Microsoft, Activision and the studios involved have declined to comment. Until an official announcement is made, the report remains unconfirmed.
