Insomniac: No Collector’s Edition for Marvel’s Wolverine

Insomniac has confirmed there will be no physical Collector’s Edition for Marvel’s Wolverine on PlayStation 5. The studio made the confirmation after releasing a gameplay demonstration and after pre-orders opened.

Sony is offering two purchase options at launch: a standard retail version and a Digital Deluxe edition that bundles extra digital content. Insomniac responded to fan questions on its social channels to clarify that no larger boxed collector package will be produced.

Collector’s Editions for major games often include physical items such as statues, art books and other memorabilia alongside in-game bonuses, and they typically carry a higher price. Some community members indicated they would have paid a premium for a Wolverine boxed edition, and reactions on social media ranged from disappointment to frustration.

Insomniac did not provide a reason for the decision. Members of the community suggested factors such as production costs or logistical challenges could be relevant, but the developer did not confirm any specific causes. The Digital Deluxe edition is the highest-priced option available at launch for players seeking extras.

Sony and other publishers have offered Collector’s Editions for recent high-profile releases, which contributed to expectations among collectors for similar offers. Pre-orders for Marvel’s Wolverine remain open as the game moves toward its scheduled PS5 release.
