Jason Voorhees Arrives in Dead by Daylight on June 16
Jason Voorhees will join Dead by Daylight as paid DLC on June 16 after the standalone Friday the 13th multiplayer game shut down in 2024.
Behaviour Interactive will add Jason Voorhees to Dead by Daylight as paid downloadable content on June 16. The character will be available to players who purchase the new content on the game’s supported platforms.
The release follows the permanent shutdown of the standalone Friday the 13th asymmetrical multiplayer game in 2024. That earlier title used the same license, and its closure, along with previous licensing arrangements, had been cited as obstacles to adding Jason to other multiplayer projects.
Dead by Daylight is an asymmetrical multiplayer survival-horror game in which one player controls a killer and four other players act as survivors trying to escape. The game, developed by Behaviour Interactive, already includes licensed killers Leatherface, Pinhead and Chucky.
Behaviour Interactive has not yet released details on Jason’s in-game abilities, perks or any accompanying map or cosmetic items. The developer plans to provide more information before the June 16 launch.
Users posted reactions online following the announcement, with some noting the new character fills a gap in the licensed killer roster and others pointing to the game’s steep learning curve for new players.
The June 16 DLC will follow the game’s recurring paid expansions that add new killers, maps and cosmetics.
