Joe Zieja: I’m not Fox’s voice in new Star Fox

Joe Zieja said on social media the Fox voice in the upcoming Star Fox for Nintendo Switch 2 is not his and thanked fans for their support.

Joe Zieja posted on social media that the voice heard in the upcoming Star Fox game for Nintendo Switch 2 is not his. Fans had speculated about the cast after the game’s announcement.

Zieja, who provided Fox’s voice in the animated short Star Fox Zero – The Battle Begins and who voiced Claude in the Switch release of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, thanked followers for their attention. He wrote: “I truly appreciate the love, but that is not my voice.” He added that he was surprised to learn the new game was in development.

In his message Zieja noted that voice actors do not own the characters they play and described feeling honored to have been part of Star Fox history. He extended congratulations to the Nintendo team and the incoming voice cast, and predicted the game’s June release will bring “joy and nostalgia to old fans, and bring new ones into a wonderful community.”

Nintendo has not publicly confirmed the Switch 2 title’s voice cast. Previous actors for Fox McCloud include Mike West, who voiced the character in earlier Star Fox entries including the Wii U and 3DS releases and the 1997 Nintendo 64 game. The character was most recently portrayed by Glen Powell in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

Fans associated Zieja with the new title after renewed attention on the franchise. Nintendo typically releases full casting information closer to a game’s launch or in the game credits, so a complete cast list may not be available until the title ships or embargoes lift.

Zieja’s post aimed to clarify his involvement while acknowledging the series’ return after more than a decade without a mainline release.
