June State of Play Draws 4.2M Views, Sets PlayStation Record
The June 2026 State of Play drew 4.2 million views in under 12 hours, surpassing the prior State of Play record and set to overtake the 2021 PS Showcase.
The June 2026 State of Play attracted 4.2 million views less than 12 hours after it aired, making it the most-watched PlayStation broadcast to date outside the 2020 PS5 reveal presentations.
The June showcase surpassed the February 2026 State of Play, which logged 3.4 million views. At the time of reporting the June edition was on track to exceed the total view counts of the 2021 and 2023 PS Showcases and could approach the numbers of one of Sony’s 2020 PS5 reveal events.
An industry editor tracking the figures wrote that the series has settled into a consistent format, highlighting tighter runtimes, focused lineups and regular scheduling as factors in higher engagement. The editor noted that multiple broadcasts per year allow Sony to spread announcements across several events rather than concentrating them in a single large show.
June’s program featured a dedicated segment for Phantom Blade Zero alongside a slate of other game reveals and updates. Sony used the broadcast to share release windows and trailers for several titles, while keeping some headline games, such as Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, off recent shows.
State of Play began as a periodic digital showcase and has expanded in reach during the PS5 era. Sony plans to hold another general State of Play in September and continues to schedule focused broadcasts when appropriate.
