Kingdom Hearts 4 Confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 Launch

Nintendo and Square Enix confirmed Kingdom Hearts 4 will be available on Nintendo Switch 2 at the console’s launch and released a trailer that highlights fast-paced combat and cinematic set pieces. Promotional materials indicate the title could arrive next year, but no firm release date was provided.

The trailer focuses on gameplay action rather than detailed story elements and identifies the Nintendo Switch 2 as a launch platform for the next numbered entry in the action role-playing series. Neither company announced pricing, edition details or a precise release date for Kingdom Hearts 4. Square Enix did not provide technical specifics for the Switch 2 version, such as whether it will run natively on the console or use cloud streaming, and has not confirmed whether the game will have feature parity with PlayStation or Xbox versions.

Separately, Nintendo will release a The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom special edition Nintendo Switch OLED Model on April 28 at a suggested retail price of $359.99. Nintendo did not disclose full dates or pricing for the Switch 2 in the Kingdom Hearts announcement.

Kingdom Hearts is a collaboration between Square Enix and Disney that mixes original characters with Disney worlds and has included cameos from Final Fantasy. The series began in 2002 and has appeared on PlayStation, Xbox and PC; the last mainline title, Kingdom Hearts III, was released in 2019.
