Kingdom Hearts cloud demos removed from US Switch eShop

Nintendo Switch eShop listings for Kingdom Hearts cloud demos were removed in the U.S.; full cloud editions remain for purchase and demos still appear in the U.K. and Japan.

Nintendo Switch eShop pages for the Kingdom Hearts cloud editions no longer list free demos in the United States, though the full cloud versions remain available for purchase. Demos continue to appear on eShop pages in the United Kingdom and Japan.

Players noticed the demo download links were missing from U.S. storefront pages while product listings for the cloud releases remained intact. Each cloud product page still displays a notice that an internet connection is required and recommends trying a free demo before purchase, but the demo link does not appear in U.S. listings.

Square Enix has not provided an explanation for the discrepancy. Observers have suggested possible causes, including a temporary error in Nintendo’s regional storefront or licensing differences by territory. Several unconfirmed rumors have circulated online.

The cloud collection on Switch bundles Kingdom Hearts – HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts III. These editions arrived on the console in 2022 as cloud-based ports that stream gameplay from remote servers and require a persistent internet connection.

Consumers in the United States can still purchase the full cloud editions through the eShop. U.S. users who want to try the demos can access them by logging into eShop accounts set to regions where the demos remain available.

Cloud-based releases depend on network speed and latency to deliver playable performance; the prior demo listings allowed players to test streaming on their home connections before buying. If Square Enix or Nintendo issues a statement or restores the demos in the U.S., those companies will publish details through their official channels.
