Kingdom Hearts native ports arrive on Switch 2 Oct. 8
Native ports of the Kingdom Hearts collection arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on Oct. 8, 2026. Players can transfer saves from existing cloud versions. A free Kingdom Hearts III demo is available today.
Square Enix announced native ports of the Kingdom Hearts collection for Nintendo Switch 2, with a launch date of Oct. 8, 2026. Players who own the earlier cloud versions on the original Switch will be able to transfer their save data to the new native releases. A free demo of Kingdom Hearts III is available for download on Nintendo Switch systems later today.
The native ports replace the cloud-only editions that were offered on the current Switch console. Square Enix confirmed owners of the cloud versions can move existing save files to the upcoming Switch 2 ports so players can keep progress without restarting. The company has not provided technical details on how the transfer will work or whether additional purchases or downloads will be required; more information is expected before the October release.
Running natively on Switch 2 means the games will install and run from the console hardware rather than require a constant internet connection to stream gameplay. The collection is frequently sold as the All-in-One Package in other formats and includes multiple mainline entries, remasters and additional content.
The free Kingdom Hearts III demo released today is intended to let players test performance and basic gameplay on their hardware ahead of the full native collection launch. The demo will be available through the Nintendo eShop on compatible Switch systems.
Kingdom Hearts is an action role-playing series developed by Square Enix in collaboration with Disney, first released in 2002. Previous Nintendo Switch releases of the bundled titles were distributed as cloud versions; the new native ports represent the first time many of those titles will be installed and played locally on a Nintendo handheld for this console generation.
Square Enix and Nintendo said further details on pricing, Switch 2 system requirements and the save-transfer process will be released in the coming weeks.
