Leaks Spoil God of War Reveal; State of Play Shows Many PS5 Games
Leaks spoiled the God of War Laufey reveal at Sony’s State of Play, but the livestream still showed more than ten PS5 games, including Until Dawn 2 and Stuntman: Hollywood.
Sony streamed a State of Play livestream last night focused on upcoming PS5 releases and extended gameplay demos.
Earlier leaks revealed Laufey’s role in the next God of War and reduced the element of surprise for viewers. A commentator noted the 20-minute uncut gameplay segment “would have been a jaw dropper” without the leaks. Santa Monica Studio head of creative Cory Barlog posted on social media expressing irritation about the leak.
The show nevertheless presented more than ten PS5 titles the commentator reported wanting to buy. Highlights included the unexpected return of Until Dawn 2, the announcement of Stuntman: Hollywood, and a new God of War trailer focused on Laufey.
Other reveals included a redesigned Green Goblin for an ArcSystem Works fighting project, the return of rhythm game Gitaroo Man, an Ace Combat Zero pre-order bonus and a Dave the Diver spin-off titled Bancho the Chef.
The commentator identified a few games that did not appeal personally-Dune Awakening and No Rest for the Wicked-and described their view of Kemuri as “a bit mixed.” They called Stuntman’s use of movie licenses “such a big win” and wrote they “absolutely can’t wait” for its release.
The commentator also noted varied audience reaction across social media and observed that State of Play events now occur more frequently than large annual showcases. The presentation provided gameplay footage and release date information for multiple upcoming PS5 titles.
