LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Arrives May 22, 2026
TT Games previewed LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on PS5 in London, showing Arkham-style combat, a four-island open-world Gotham, a Batcave hub and a May 22, 2026 release.
TT Games previewed LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight for PS5 at a London event, offering hands-on access to story levels and open-world content. Attendees played about three hours of material from a build that included several missions and exploration of Gotham.
The game presents an original Batman story that draws from films, comics and video games rather than adapting a single source. TT Games has divided Gotham into four islands; the preview build opened three of those islands. Players access main missions from markers in the open world and encounter many side objectives, puzzles and collectibles while exploring.
Combat follows patterns used in the Arkham series. Players use basic attacks to build a meter for flashy takedowns and slow-motion finishers. On-screen prompts trigger dodges, reversals and counterattacks, and stealth options enable shadow takedowns. The preview build included a skill tree and upgrade paths for characters that may add depth to the core system.
The game supports continuous two-player co-op and uses a companion system in mission design. Batman typically travels with one other character whose special skills are required to progress. TT Games limited the playable roster to seven characters; each has distinct abilities and upgrade paths. Examples in the preview included Jim Gordon using a glue-like device to stop machinery and Catwoman using a whip for traversal and puzzles. Character swapping is handled through the pause menu.
The Batcave functions as the central hub for tracking suits, vehicles and collectibles, replaying missions and customizing the space. Collectibles found during play unlock cosmetic options and items that can be used to personalize the Batcave.
TT Games set the release date for May 22, 2026 on PS5. The preview build showcased the game’s open-world structure, combat mechanics, character systems and hub features without reflecting final performance or content.
