LEGO to retire Super Mario, Mario Kart and Animal Crossing sets

LEGO listed multiple Nintendo-themed sets, including Super Mario, Mario Kart and Animal Crossing models, as “retiring soon” on its US and UK online stores.

LEGO has marked several Nintendo-themed sets as “retiring soon” on its US and UK websites, adding them to the company’s “last chance to buy” pages. The listings appeared on the online stores recently.

The retiring Super Mario items include Adventures with Interactive LEGO Mario, Party at Toad’s House, Captain Toad’s Camp, Prince Florian & Castle Bowser and the Piranha Plant. Mario Kart sets flagged for retirement include Standard Kart, Yoshi Bike, Baby Mario vs. Baby Luigi, Piranha Plant Power-Up Pursuit, Bowser’s Castle, Wario & King Boo, Toad’s Garage and Baby Peach & Grand Prix. From the Animal Crossing line, Leif’s Caravan & Garden Shop and Creative Houses: Seasons of Fun are listed.

The “retiring soon” label generally indicates production will end and official store inventory will decline, which can make sets harder to find through LEGO.com and company-run retail outlets. The sets listed on the US and UK pages may not match retiring lists in other markets.

Buyers should check LEGO’s online store for final availability and contact local retailers for remaining stock. Some interactive Super Mario playsets previously sold out through LEGO’s direct channels and later appeared on secondary markets after official discontinuation.
