Indiana Jones-inspired PS5 game Lifted launches on PS Store

Lifted, an Indiana Jones-inspired adventure from developer Adventure Works, arrived on the PlayStation Store for PS5 and on PC today. The studio says a Nintendo Switch 2 version is planned but has no release date.

Jeffrey Ashbrook, founder of Adventure Works, led development. Ashbrook previously worked on Disney Parks attractions, including Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.

Players control treasure hunters Ari Buktu and Professor Lionel Raventhorpe as they travel through different eras and civilizations to find a legendary tiara. The game emphasizes puzzle-platforming and large action set pieces rather than combat-driven encounters.

Settings named in the game include 1818 Egypt and ancient Mayan sites. Gameplay involves solving environmental puzzles, performing platforming sequences and evading historical antagonists to progress.

The game’s official description reads: ‘Strap in for a journey inspired by ’80s blockbusters, with all of the escapades and none of the violence. Platform through awe-inspiring locations from 1818 Egypt to ancient Mayan civilizations. Solve head-scratching puzzles, pull off laugh-inducing hijinks, and evade some of history’s most legendary troublemakers to reach the treasure.’

The story centers on the search for a tiara intended as a gift for Miss Barton, described in the narrative as Professor Raventhorpe’s ‘great love down the hall.’ The release marks Adventure Works’ transition from designing park attractions to standalone game development under Ashbrook’s direction.
