Limited Run revises Sonic X Shadow statue after backlash

Limited Run Games revealed an updated Sonic X Shadow statue prototype with improved sculpting, cleaner paint, brighter gold accents and a sturdier base after fan criticism.

Limited Run Games has revealed a revised prototype of the Sonic X Shadow statue after fans criticized the appearance of the figure included with the company’s Sonic X Shadow Generations limited edition. The company released photos comparing the new prototype with the earlier version and described several changes to the sculpt and finish.

Collectors had complained that the original statue did not meet expectations. Limited Run paused shipments of the limited edition and returned the figure to the drawing board while it revised the design and production plan. The company published comparison images showing the revised piece on the left and the earlier prototype on the right.

The revised prototype includes finer sculpt details, neater paint applications along edges, brighter metallic gold accents and a reinforced base to address stability concerns. Limited Run posted that the latest prototype has been sent to SEGA for feedback before the manufacturer begins full production.

The statue is part of the high-priced Sonic X Shadow Generations limited edition that customers preordered. The temporary halt to deliveries affects buyers who included the statue in their orders. Limited Run said it will incorporate any notes from SEGA and update the production timeline once feedback is received.

Limited Run Games is a publisher known for producing limited physical editions and collectibles for video games. Customers awaiting shipment can expect further updates from the company as it finalizes the manufacturing schedule.
