Lords of the Fallen II doubles weapon movesets in combat overhaul

CI Games has overhauled the combat system for Lords of the Fallen II, the upcoming sequel to its 2023 Soulslike game. The update adds more than 30 distinct weapon movesets, twice the number in the original release, along with the ability to switch weapons during combos.

The changes were detailed in the latest episode of the developer’s “Lifting the Veil” YouTube series. The series covers the development of the sequel and updates based on feedback from the 2023 game.

Each weapon class will have its own moveset and combat options, including repositioning attacks, infinite combo chains and area-of-effect strikes. Players will be able to change stances and switch weapons during a combo without interrupting the attack sequence.

The sequel will add more melee abilities, new counterattack options and boss weapons with signature attacks. Each melee loadout can include two quickfire abilities, letting players use magic, ranged projectiles and buffs without changing stances.

Spellcasters will be able to equip up to four spells with one catalyst. A second catalyst can hold another set of four spells, which players can access immediately. Button remapping is intended to make switching between these spell sets easier.

Mana replenishment will no longer require consumable items, according to the development update. Lords of the Fallen II can be wishlisted on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
