Madden NFL 27 coming to Switch 2 Aug. 13 with Caleb Williams
EA revealed Madden NFL 27 will launch Aug. 13, 2026, on Switch 2 and other platforms, names Caleb Williams as cover athlete and says the title uses a new Persona Engine.
Electronic Arts revealed Madden NFL 27 for Switch 2 and other platforms, confirming an Aug. 13, 2026 release and naming Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams as the cover athlete. EA published a reveal trailer and a product page that lists a Switch 2 edition with an estimated file size of about 50GB.
EA says the game uses a new Persona Engine that assigns each NFL athlete a distinct personality that will influence motivations, demands and reactions in Franchise mode.
EA highlighted gameplay updates including more precise wide receiver versus defensive back contests, new short-yardage mechanics, defensive coverage adjustments and additional pre-play strategic settings and controls. The publisher also described a new Superstar G.O.A.T. Career Journey to expand player progression and an Ultimate Team Captains feature for roster customization.
Madden NFL 26 launched on Switch 2 last August. That entry ran with a reduced frame rate at times, often dropping to around 40 frames per second, experienced server issues at launch and did not include cross-play support.
Madden NFL 27 will be available on multiple platforms on August 13, 2026. EA added that platform-specific details, system requirements and pricing for the Switch 2 edition will appear on storefront pages and official channels ahead of release.
EA’s announcement reads: “Run the league one decision at a time. EA SPORTS™ Madden NFL 27, powered by the all-new Persona Engine, transforms Franchise into a reactive, always-evolving league where every NFL athlete has a distinct, realistic personality that informs their motivations, demands and reactions.”
