Mafia III Gets Free PS5 Upgrade With 60 FPS Gameplay

Mafia III: Definitive Edition is now available as a free PS5 upgrade for owners of the PS4 version, with 60 FPS gameplay and fixes for missions, combat and world events.

Mafia III: Definitive Edition is now available as a free PlayStation 5 upgrade for players who own a physical or digital copy of the PlayStation 4 version. The upgrade is offered at no extra cost.

Developed by Hangar 13 and published by 2K, the open-world action-adventure game first launched in 2016. The 2020 Definitive Edition included the main campaign and three story expansions: Faster, Baby!, Stones Unturned and Sign of the Times.

The PS5 version runs gameplay at 60 frames per second. Pre-rendered cinematic scenes remain at 30 frames per second because they are stored as video rather than rendered in real time.

The upgrade includes the Family Kick-Back Pack and the Judge, Jury & Executioner Weapons Pack. It also addresses problems with Trophy and Achievement tracking.

Updates to story progression fix issues involving checkpoints, cutscenes and objectives that could leave players unable to continue missions. The update also changes artificial intelligence and non-player character behavior in selected combat encounters and world events.

Map, waypoint and objective icons now provide more accurate directions during various missions. The update improves menu and control-prompt reliability during tutorials and fixes unintended texture and lighting issues.

Players who own Mafia: The Omertà Collection can access the PS5 release at no extra cost as part of the collection’s four-game bundle.
