Marsupilami 2 demo hits Nintendo Switch eShop
A free demo of Marsupilami 2 – Salsa Palombia is available now on the Nintendo Switch eShop; the 2.5D platformer is set to release on 3 September.
Microids and developer Ocellus Services have released a free demo of Marsupilami 2 – Salsa Palombia on the Nintendo Switch eShop. The full game is scheduled to launch on 3 September and is available for pre-order at £24.99 / $29.99.
The demo includes three playable Marsupilami characters, local two-player cooperative play and four worlds to explore. Each character has a distinct ability such as gliding, melee attacks or extended jumps, and switching between them is required to reach some hidden areas and secrets.
Gameplay is presented in 2.5D side-scrolling levels that range from jungle stages to city environments. Players advance through stages that increase in difficulty and culminate in boss encounters, including a confrontation with the Mummy Queen, an antagonist who has hypnotised jungle inhabitants.
The game features Battle Dojos and local competitive minigames designed for two-player sessions. The demo allows players to test movement mechanics, level layout and boss fights before the full release.
Marsupilami 2 is based on the Belgian comic by André Franquin and follows a 2021 Marsupilami title from the same developer. Some observers have compared its 2.5D perspective and character-based movement mechanics to the Donkey Kong Country series, while the game uses the Marsupilami licence and its own cast of characters.
The demo is available for download now on the Nintendo Switch eShop. Pre-orders for the full game are open, and the release date is 3 September.
