Marvel Tokon’s 10-Hour Story Mode Will Include Playable Battles
Arc System Works confirms Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls’ 10-hour comic-style Episode Mode will include playable battles woven into its story.
Arc System Works confirmed on May 13, 2026, that Episode Mode in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will combine comic-style animated panels with playable battles spread through the roughly 10-hour campaign.
Producer Takeshi Yamanaka explained via translation: “In Episode Mode, there are playable battles incorporated throughout. Battles that are connected to the story unfold, and it’s designed so that anyone can enjoy it casually, like reading a comic, allowing for a more interactive experience of the story.”
Arc System Works noted an earlier description presented the mode as reading-only and that the presentation was revised; the developer confirmed combat will appear at key story beats.
Confirmed Episode Mode features include animated panels presented in a comic or manga style, controls to change panel speed and pause to study artwork, and full voice acting in 10 languages. Sony is assisting with localization, and the PlayStation 5 version will use DualSense haptic feedback throughout the mode.
The studio described the campaign as approximately 10 hours long, divided into episodes tied to different character teams. The narrative centers on a promoter figure who organizes a “Challenge of the Champion” tournament involving Marvel heroes and villains.
The developer added competitive and multiplayer systems remain a primary focus, with Episode Mode offered as a single-player, illustrated route through the game’s story. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is scheduled to launch later this year.
