Marvel’s Wolverine PS5 Exclusive Arrives on PlayStation Store
Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Wolverine is available now on the PlayStation Store for PS5 and PS5 Pro; the standard edition is $69.99 and the Digital Deluxe is $79.99.
Marvel’s Wolverine, developed by Insomniac Games in partnership with Marvel Games, launched today on the PlayStation Store for PS5 and PS5 Pro. The standard edition is listed at $69.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition at $79.99. The PS5 Pro version includes PSSR support to boost performance on that console.
Insomniac announced the project in 2021 and developed it over several years. Development was disrupted in 2023 by a ransomware attack that affected the studio. In October 2024, Marcus Smith and Mike Daly took over creative and game director duties from Brian Horton and Cameron Christian. Smith and Daly previously worked on Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
The game presents a standalone story set in the same universe as Insomniac’s Spider-Man titles. Players follow James “Logan” Howlett, an amnesiac mutant who leaves Team X and returns three years later to rejoin the unit and investigate billionaire scientist Bolivar Trask. Logan reunites with former teammates now including Sabretooth, Mystique and Nathaniel Essex. Jean Grey appears as an ally during the mission. Major opponents in the narrative include the Trask-led Reavers, the Hand, Sentinels, Omega Red, Lady Deathstrike and Ogun.
Early reviews describe the combat as fast, chaotic and challenging. Visuals, character animations and choreographed set pieces are highlighted as strengths. Some reviewers note that the game follows design patterns seen in the studio’s earlier superhero titles.
On the PlayStation Store, user ratings average 4.84 out of 5 based on more than 6,200 reviews. The title is distributed digitally through Sony’s storefront and is presented as a console-exclusive single-player entry for current PlayStation hardware.
