Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 on PS5
Konami released Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 for PS5, porting Metal Gear Solid 4 and Peace Walker to modern hardware with 4K/60 FPS and preserved gameplay. The collection lacks a unified launcher.
Konami released Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 for PS5 as part of its ongoing Master Collection program. The compilation brings Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker to PS5 with performance and visual updates and retains original gameplay content.
Metal Gear Solid 4 runs at native 4K and targets 60 frames per second. Textures have been reworked for greater detail and original visual filters have been softened for a more neutral look. All content from the 2008 release is included, including the prelude television segments and in-game references to PlayStation 3 hardware and SIXAXIS controls. Core gameplay, cutscene lengths and plot content remain unchanged from the original edition.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, originally developed for the PlayStation Portable, runs at a steady 60 FPS on PS5 and renders at 1080p before upscaling on modern displays. The game’s mission-based structure, base-building mechanics and cooperative multiplayer remain intact. Art assets and environments reflect the PSP-era design, and cutscenes retain a comic-book presentation rather than a cinematic one.
The package includes the Game Boy Color Metal Gear spin-off in addition to the two main titles. Volume 2 contains fewer games than the first Master Collection volume, which bundled five mainline entries, two non-canon NES titles and multiple versions of the original PlayStation release. The compilation does not provide a single, unified front-end; each title launches as a separate application.
Supplementary materials are provided in digital form and consist primarily of screenplays, texts and images. The collection contains limited video features or documentary footage. The release follows last year’s remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and continues Konami’s pattern of remastering and repackaging series entries for current platforms.
