SNK announced Metal Slug Ultimate Collection for PlayStation 5, a 10-game compilation from the Neo Geo era through later entries, scheduled for release in 2027 and coming to PC, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.

SNK announced Metal Slug Ultimate Collection for PlayStation 5, a compilation that gathers 10 entries from the series’ Neo Geo era through later generations. The package collects Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug 4, Metal Slug 5, Metal Slug Advance, Metal Slug 6, Metal Slug 7 and a Metal Slug Location Test Version that was not previously released to the public.

SNK plans to release the collection sometime in 2027 for PlayStation 5. The company intends to release the same package on PC, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. An announcement trailer accompanied the reveal.

The collection adds modern features to the original games, including online leaderboards, a museum mode and a gallery. The package offers quick save, quick load and rewind functions. SNK lists extra play modes such as score attack, time attack and a Combat School Mode intended to teach controls and core mechanics.

The included location test build represents an early iteration of the original Metal Slug that was not widely distributed. The museum and gallery will present franchise art and historical material. SNK has not announced a specific release date in 2027, pricing or any platform-exclusive content or special editions.

Metal Slug debuted in 1996 and the franchise has produced more than a dozen entries across consoles, PCs, handhelds and mobile devices. In 2024 SNK released Metal Slug Tactics, a turn-based tactics spin-off.
