Metro 2039 Release Date; PS5 Pro Trailer at 60 fps

4A Games set Metro 2039 for Feb. 4, 2027, and debuted a PS5 Pro gameplay trailer during Sony’s State of Play that runs at 60 fps with ray tracing.

4A Games announced Metro 2039 will launch on Feb. 4, 2027. The studio premiered a gameplay trailer during Sony’s State of Play with footage captured on a PlayStation 5 Pro console.

The trailer follows The Stranger, a former Spartan warrior, as he moves across the ruined streets of Moscow on the surface in search of a Novoreich fortress. Metro 2039 is presented as a story-driven, single-player title consistent with earlier entries in the series.

The PS5 Pro footage runs at 60 frames per second with ray-traced lighting and reflections. The developer credited frame-rate and image improvements to optimizations of its in-house 4A Engine. 4A Games previously released Metro: Exodus Enhanced Edition for PlayStation 5 with similar 60 fps ray tracing.

Surface gameplay in the trailer includes survival elements such as radiation management and harsh weather. Combat shown includes the Shatun rifle for silenced headshots, throwables like molotovs, and the Duplet shotgun for close-range fights.

Metro 2039 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X|S on Feb. 4, 2027. Metro: Exodus remains available in PlayStation Plus Extra’s Game Catalog for players who want a recent reference point.

The trailer and the technical details shown during State of Play demonstrate higher visual fidelity and smoother frame rates on enhanced hardware while the game maintains a single-player narrative structure.
