Metro Redux gets free PS5 next‑gen update

4A Games will issue a free Metro Redux Next‑Gen Update for owners of Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux, adding 4K textures, improved lighting, audio and PS5 performance.

4A Games is delivering a free Metro Redux Next‑Gen Update for owners of Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux on PlayStation and other supported platforms. The studio says the update preserves original gameplay while upgrading visual and technical elements for current-generation consoles.

The patch brings higher-resolution 4K textures, improved animation fidelity, more environmental detail, enhanced lighting, deeper shadows and richer particle effects. Audio quality will be upgraded and the update includes a set of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements aimed at smoother performance and stability.

On PlayStation, the update adds native PS5 support and features tuned for PS5 Pro hardware, including support for PSSR. On PS5 and Xbox Series X|S the games can run at 4K and 60 frames per second. Players with compatible displays have an option for an upscaled 4K mode at 120fps. The DualSense adaptive triggers are supported on PS5, and the update is compatible with the console’s Power Saver mode.

The Next‑Gen Update will be available on PC on October 22, 2026, and on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on October 29, 2026. 4A Games has confirmed the update is free for existing owners of the two Redux titles, following the studio’s earlier free upgrade for Metro Exodus.

Jon Bloch, Executive Producer at 4A Games, commented that the team is grateful to players and that offering the update free was intended as a thank-you to the community.

The update follows the Metro franchise reaching 50 million sales worldwide. 4A Games has scheduled its next numbered entry, Metro 2039, for release on February 14, 2027, on PC and consoles.
