Microsoft Will Show PS5 Logos at June 7 Xbox Showcase

Microsoft will display PlayStation 5 platform logos during the Xbox Showcase on June 7, Xbox Chief Content Officer Matt Booty confirmed during a podcast. The company plans to list the platforms for each game shown in the broadcast.

Booty said, “We’ll be very clear about what platforms a game is coming to and want to continue the precedent. I think we’ve got a good system going where we make it clear in the Showcase.” He added the livestream will not be the venue for broader corporate platform strategy commentary.

The Showcase will include a mix of first-party and third-party titles. Several games already confirmed for PS5, including Halo: Campaign Evolved and Fable, are set to appear and will launch on Xbox and PS5 on the same day.

Observers have noted that the presence or absence of a PS5 platform card at the end of trailers is used to indicate whether a title is multiplatform or exclusive. Gears of War: E-Day has not been confirmed for PS5, and its end card will be watched for information about platform availability.

Booty indicated the broadcast will focus on game announcements and updates rather than explanations of wider platform policy.

Microsoft’s recent publishing and acquisition activity has increased attention on where its games will appear. The platform labels shown during the Showcase will identify which consoles the announced titles are planned to reach.
