Mina the Hollower tops 500,000 sales, easing studio outlook
Mina the Hollower has sold more than 500,000 copies since its launch last month, after reports of layoffs and financial strain at Yacht Club Games.
Yacht Club Games confirmed Mina the Hollower has sold more than 500,000 copies since launching last month, a development that follows staff reductions at the studio late last year.
Co-founder Sean Velasco had earlier described the game’s launch as “make-or-break,” estimating the studio would need roughly 200,000 units to be in the clear. Less than two weeks after release, sales exceeded double that estimate and the studio reported the half‑million milestone.
Yacht Club Games wrote on social media: “Thank you for playing, sharing, reviewing, streaming, and believing in our haughty little mouse. The adventure is just getting started!” The studio added: “Half a million Hollowers have descended into Tenebrous Isle, and we’re completely blown away.”
The developer did not publish detailed revenue figures. Reports that Yacht Club reduced headcount late last year raised concerns about its finances; the new sales figures improve the company’s short-term position.
The game received high review scores on release and ranks at the top of Metacritic’s year‑to‑date list for 2026. Yacht Club credited players, streamers and reviewers for contributing to early uptake.
Mina the Hollower is set on Tenebrous Isle and follows the protagonist Mina. The title combines pixel‑art visuals, retro adventure mechanics and modern design elements.
Yacht Club did not outline specific hiring or development plans in its announcement. The studio described the sales milestone as providing breathing room and indicated it will continue support and promotion for the game.
