Mina the Hollower Arrives on PS5 May 29 for $19.99

Yacht Club Games’ Mina the Hollower releases worldwide on PS5 on May 29, priced at $19.99, after the title went gold late last month.

Yacht Club Games will release Mina the Hollower on PlayStation 5 worldwide on May 29 with a price of $19.99. The studio said the game reached gold status late last month, indicating the final master is complete.

Mina the Hollower is a Game Boy Color–inspired action-adventure in which players control Mina, a Hollower sent to rescue a cursed island. The studio describes gameplay that includes burrowing mechanics, whip-based combat, an array of sidearms and trinkets, large boss encounters, pixel-art visuals and an original soundtrack. Players explore multiple locales, uncover secrets and meet a cast of characters.

The project was first revealed in 2022 and faced several delays before progress accelerated late last year. A timed demo was available earlier this year on the PlayStation Store but has since been removed; Yacht Club Games has not announced a replacement demo ahead of the full release.

Yacht Club Games is best known for Shovel Knight. The developer has stated that the commercial performance of Mina the Hollower will matter for the studio’s future and has positioned the title as a retro-styled, standalone project to broaden its catalog.

In its press release, Yacht Club Games wrote: “Descend into a frightful world of action-adventure in Mina the Hollower. Take control of Mina, a renowned Hollower hurtled into a desperate mission to rescue a cursed island. Burrow beneath hazards and monsters, whip foes into oblivion, and gear up with an arsenal of sidearms and trinkets.”

The May 29 release on PS5 is the first confirmed next-gen launch for the game; the company has not provided a timetable for releases on other platforms.
