Minecraft Dungeons 2 arrives on Switch and Switch 2 Sept. 29

Mojang and Microsoft confirmed Minecraft Dungeons 2 will release on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on Sept. 29. The sequel was revealed at Minecraft Live, where a short teaser trailer was published to preview the game’s tone and combat.

Mojang and Microsoft are listed as the developer and publisher for the title. Minecraft Dungeons 2 follows the original Minecraft Dungeons, which combined dungeon-crawling combat with Minecraft’s visual style and has been available on the Nintendo Switch and other platforms.

The teaser focuses on action and atmosphere rather than detailed systems. The initial reveal did not include specifics on gameplay mechanics, modes, or pricing; the studio has indicated it will release additional information in the run-up to the September launch.

Nintendo confirmed that the original Minecraft Dungeons will be offered as the next Nintendo Switch Online Game Trial in Japan. Eligible Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in Japan can download the trial beginning Aug. 9.

Minecraft Dungeons 2 is scheduled to arrive on both the current Switch and the next-generation Nintendo Switch 2 on Sept. 29. Further updates on levels, enemies, multiplayer features and retail details are expected from Mojang before the release date.
