Minecraft Dungeons II gameplay revealed, launches Sept. 29
Gameplay for Minecraft Dungeons II was shown June 7; the game launches Sept. 29 with four-player online and couch co-op, new biomes, gear crafting and tougher enemies.
Mojang posted gameplay footage and a launch trailer for Minecraft Dungeons II on the official Minecraft site on June 7 and confirmed a release date of Sept. 29. The announcement includes details on co-op play, new environments, item systems and pre-order bonuses.
The developer described a disrupted Overworld where restless mobs and unusual events signal a new threat. Players will travel through locations that mix new terrain with familiar areas from the series, encountering larger enemy groups and new enemy types.
The game supports up to four players in both online and couch co-op. The team highlighted mechanics that encourage teamwork in four-player parties, including encounters with enhanced foes that require coordination and improved equipment.
Character progression centers on items found during play. Players can collect and use weapons, armor, artifacts, talismans and other rare or legendary gear to shape their build. The announcement also references gear crafting as part of customization.
Pre-orders began June 6 at 12 p.m. PDT and run through Sept. 28 at 12 p.m. PDT at participating retailers while supplies last. Pre-order incentives include two hero skins, the Twisted cape and a Twisted chicken pet. The offer is limited to one per person or account and may vary by region, platform and retailer. The developer noted that online console multiplayer or co-op requires the platform-specific online subscription, which is sold separately.
The initial announcement did not list specific platform availability or a post-launch content schedule. The Minecraft Dungeons II page on the official site hosts the trailer and further information.
