Minecraft Live at TwitchCon Reveals Chaos Cubed, Dappled Forest

Bonus Minecraft Live at TwitchCon Europe previewed Chaos Cubed with sulfur caves and sulfur cubes, confirmed the dappled forest for 2026 Drop 3, and teased a Dungeons II foe and movie sequel.

Developers used a bonus Minecraft Live broadcast at TwitchCon Europe to preview upcoming content for Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons II, including a new game drop, a 2026 biome, a boss reveal and a film sequel.

The Chaos Cubed drop centers on a sulfur caves biome and a new mob called the sulfur cube. Developers showed early prototypes in which sulfur cubes consume blocks and adopt some of their properties, producing different behaviors when rolled or launched. The cubes can interact with explosives; Mojang staff noted that using TNT with sulfur cubes is inefficient as a resource strategy but added a short, staged reaction: “Is it fun? Yes.”

Mojang confirmed the dappled forest will arrive as Drop 3 of 2026. The team described the biome as a colorful forest with poplar trees featuring warm gray wood tones, scattered abandoned camps and red shrubs. Designers discussed decorative options for interiors and exteriors, mentioning herringbone wood patterns; more details on the fall 2026 drop will follow later in the year.

Minecraft Dungeons II received a gameplay tease for a new enemy called the Twisted Warden. The creature was presented as slow-moving but powerful; designer Marie described it as “a little bit on the slow side but packs a whole lot of power.” The sequel is scheduled for release later this year on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, Xbox on PC and Game Pass.

At TwitchCon’s Minecraft Arena, organizers built life-size versions of in-game biomes and a large model of the Twisted Warden. LEGO revealed a forthcoming Minecraft Dungeons II set and showcased a Minecraft Chicken Mounts add-on, which is now available through the Minecraft Marketplace and lets players customize and ride chicken mounts in-game.

The broadcast also announced the film sequel titled A Minecraft Movie Squared. Cast updates include Danielle Brooks hinting at new adventures and mobs, Matt Berry returning in an undisclosed role, and Kirsten Dunst joining the cast as Alex alongside returning stars Jack Black and Jason Momoa. Director Jared Hess and Jens presented The Minecraft Movie Build Challenge, inviting players to submit movie-inspired in-game builds for a chance to appear in the film or end credits and to win a private screening and tickets.

Participants in the broadcast included members of the Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons II teams who demonstrated early prototypes and discussed design details. Minecraft Live continues to roll out seasonal content drops and community events; Chaos Cubed is part of the planned 2026 schedule and the dappled forest is the next confirmed biome update.
