Mixtape launches on PS5 for $19.99

Mixtape, a music-driven narrative game from Beethoven & Dinosaur and Annapurna Interactive, is available now on the PlayStation Store for PS5 at $19.99.

Mixtape, developed by Beethoven & Dinosaur and published by Annapurna Interactive, released today on the PlayStation Store for PS5. The game is offered as a single digital edition priced at $19.99.

Set in a late-1980s to early-1990s environment, Mixtape follows three friends on their last night together. A curated playlist pulls them into dreamlike reenactments of memories, and the story is told through a sequence of short, self-contained vignettes presented as entries on a mixtape.

Gameplay mixes light interactive sequences with narrative moments. Players ride skateboards, briefly fly, take photos at an after-hours abandoned theme park, hit baseballs and stage a fireworks display from the backseat of a car. Each vignette shifts mechanics to match the scene, recreating key moments such as a first kiss or a final dance.

The soundtrack uses licensed tracks from artists associated with the era, including DEVO, Roxy Music, Lush, The Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division and The Cure. Music is integrated into the narrative structure, with individual vignettes tied to specific songs.

Beethoven & Dinosaur previously released The Artful Escape. Mixtape is a single-player title positioned as a short, narrative-focused experience and is available exclusively as a digital purchase on PS5.

The release continues a pattern of independent games that blend music and story into compact, scene-based experiences rather than extended action or open-world formats.
