Modern Warfare 4 campaign early access starts Oct. 16
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 campaign early access begins Oct. 16 for players who digitally pre-order or pre-purchase on supported platforms.
Activision and lead developer Infinity Ward confirmed that the single-player campaign for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be available early to players who digitally pre-order or pre-purchase the Standard Digital Edition or the Vault Edition. Campaign Early Access begins Friday, Oct. 16, and the full game is scheduled to launch worldwide on Oct. 23, 2026.
Early access applies to purchases on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Battle.net, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2; pre-orders for Switch 2 are expected to open later this year. Pre-orders are being accepted at participating retailers, on platform stores, in some in-game stores and at CallofDuty.com.
The campaign follows Private Park, a young South Korean soldier who faces frontline combat after North Korea launches a large-scale invasion. The narrative also follows Captain Price operating outside official channels while pursuing a weapon the developers say could shift the balance of power. The campaign includes large set-piece battles, covert missions, combined-arms engagements and varied missions across multiple theaters.
Infinity Ward led development and partnered with Beenox to optimize the PC versions for Battle.net, Xbox on PC and Steam. Digital Legends is developing a native version for Nintendo Switch 2. Other credited teams include Activision Central Design, Activision Central Technology, Activision QA, Activision Shanghai, Demonware, High Moon Studios, Raven Software, Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch.
The publisher said it will publish additional information before launch, including details on an Open Beta, full lists of edition content and a loyalty discount for eligible players. Those details and the complete preorder terms are available on the Call of Duty Blog and the game’s official preorder pages.
