Pre-orders give Modern Warfare 4 campaign early access Oct. 16

Digital pre-orders of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (Standard Digital or Vault Edition) grant campaign early access starting Friday, Oct. 16 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.

Activision and lead developer Infinity Ward confirmed that digital pre-orders of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 — the Standard Digital Edition or Vault Edition — grant access to the game’s campaign beginning Friday, Oct. 16 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. The full game is scheduled to launch worldwide on Oct. 23, 2026.

Early Access applies to purchases made through platform stores and digital storefronts, including the PlayStation Store, Microsoft’s platforms, Battle.net, Steam and the Nintendo eShop on Switch 2. Activision lists retailers, in-game stores and CallofDuty.com as other points of sale. Pre-orders for the Switch 2 version will open later this year. Activision cautions that platform availability and start dates may change and that online services can be affected by outages and regional time differences.

The campaign places players in the role of Private Park, a young South Korean soldier facing frontline combat after North Korea launches a full-scale invasion. The story follows Park’s squad through collapsing cities and counteroffensives while tracking operator-turned-outlaw Captain Price as he pursues a weapon with the potential to alter the conflict. Activision describes the campaign as including large-scale battles, covert missions, combined-arms encounters and cinematic set pieces.

Infinity Ward leads development. Beenox is handling PC optimization and Digital Legends is building the native Switch 2 version. Additional contributors named by Activision include Activision Central Design and Technology, Activision QA, Activision Shanghai, Demonware, High Moon Studios, Raven Software, Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch. The PC release will be available via Battle.net, Xbox on PC and Steam.

Access to the Early Access campaign requires a digital pre-order of the specified editions. Details on Vault Edition content, pre-order rewards and a Loyalty Discount are available from the publisher. Further updates, including information on an Open Beta and additional intel drops ahead of launch, will appear on the Call of Duty Blog and Activision’s official channels.
