Activision shows Modern Warfare 4 DMZ; Switch 2 release Oct. 23
Activision showed Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ mode at the Xbox Games Showcase and Nintendo listed the Switch 2 release date as Oct. 23.
Activision presented new footage of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ mode during the Xbox Games Showcase and a trailer debuted as part of the presentation. Nintendo’s official download notice lists the game for Nintendo Switch 2 on Oct. 23 and says preorders and further details will follow later this summer.
The showcase segment focused on DMZ mode gameplay and related features, offering a look at environments, equipment and in‑game objectives. Activision’s announcement did not include a full list of launch platforms beyond the Switch 2 listing published by Nintendo.
An industry leaker had earlier reported that Modern Warfare 4 would be the first Call of Duty entry on Nintendo’s next console; Nintendo’s listing confirmed the title for Switch 2. Microsoft previously announced plans to bring the Call of Duty franchise to Nintendo’s new hardware.
Nintendo’s download bulletin did not include pricing, exact launch times or information on bundled content for the Switch 2 version. Activision has not released final technical details for the Switch 2 port, including performance targets or feature parity with other platforms. Retail and digital store pages, preorder windows and additional promotional materials are expected to appear in the coming weeks.
Separately, the Korea Ratings Board recently issued ratings for Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Ratings filings do not confirm release schedules, but such entries have been used in the past ahead of remasters or ports.
No sales forecasts or subscription plans tied to Modern Warfare 4 were disclosed during the showcase. For now, the confirmed date to watch is Oct. 23 on Nintendo Switch 2, with more launch details to be provided by the companies before the fall release.
