Modern Warfare 4 pre-orders open with Vault Edition, beta access

Activision opened pre-orders May 28 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, offering a Vault Edition, Open Beta early access, a Hunter Killer operator skin and a 10% loyalty discount. Launch Oct. 23, 2026.

Activision opened pre-orders on May 28 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The publisher is offering a digital Vault Edition, a digital Standard Edition and a physical Standard Edition for consoles. The game is scheduled to launch on Oct. 23, 2026.

Pre-orders and pre‑purchases are live on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC (Xbox Play Anywhere), PlayStation 5, Battle.net and Steam. Nintendo Switch 2 support is listed as coming later in the year. Modern Warfare 4 will not be released on Xbox One or PlayStation 4, and it will not be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch. Activision warned that storefront pages may take time to appear by region or platform and that physical Standard Edition pre-orders are available through participating retailers.

All three editions include Open Beta early access and the Hunter Killer operator skin. Digital pre-orders grant automatic early access to the Open Beta; physical pre-orders should provide Beta codes from participating retailers. Activision said exact Beta dates will be announced later and that the Open Beta will run for at least two days.

The Vault Edition is available digitally only and bundles additional content. At launch it will include two operator packs, a Signature Weapon Collection, one season of BlackCell access and a DMZ Deployment Bonus to be detailed nearer release. The Hostile Alliance pack unlocks four operators at launch: Price, Valeria, Ghost and Blix. The Special Forces pack adds four country‑specific operators with local language voice packs representing France, Germany, South Korea and the United Kingdom. The Signature Weapon Collection delivers five weapons with blueprints and specialized attachments. BlackCell grants immediate Battle Pass benefits tied to a single season, including 20 Battle Pass tier skips, 1,100 COD Points, an exclusive operator and a weapon blueprint; redemption applies to one Battle Pass season only. Details of the DMZ Deployment Bonus were not yet provided.

A 10% loyalty discount applies to digital Vault Edition pre-orders for players who have previously owned and played qualifying Call of Duty titles on the same platform and account. Qualifying titles include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019), Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered (2020), Black Ops Cold War, Vanguard, Modern Warfare II (2022), Modern Warfare III (2023), Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7. The discount is also available to players who played qualifying titles via an active Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, or PC subscription or claimed them through PlayStation Plus Monthly Games. The discount must be claimed before Oct. 23, 2026 and does not apply to upgrades from the Standard Edition to the Vault Edition.

Digital Standard Edition pre-purchases can be upgraded to the Vault Edition on the same platform for a listed upgrade price of $30 U.S. or regional equivalent; physical Standard Edition pre-orders are not eligible for upgrades. Xbox Play Anywhere purchases on Xbox Series X|S or Xbox on PC provide access across both platforms from a single purchase.

Activision noted additional platform and account requirements. Certain PC security features such as TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot may be required. An Activision account is necessary, and a linked mobile phone number may be required to play. Online multiplayer access may require separate subscriptions. Infinity Ward leads development with support from Beenox for PC optimization, Digital Legends for Switch 2 and several other studios. Pre-orders are available via platform storefronts, in‑game stores, participating retailers or CallofDuty.com; consumers were advised to check their preferred storefronts if pages have not yet propagated in their region.
