Modern Warfare 4 trailer previews 6v6 maps, PS5 early beta

A new trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 previews the game’s multiplayer lineup and confirms early beta dates. The clip, set to Rick Ross’s “The Devil Is a Lie,” highlights all 12 new 6v6 maps and the adaptive map called Kill Block.

PlayStation 5 players who pre-order the game digitally will get early access to the beta from Aug. 21 to Aug. 25, 2026. The beta will be available to all supported platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox and PC, starting Aug. 28. The full game is scheduled to launch on Oct. 23, 2026.

Kill Block is described as an adaptive live-fire map built from modular sections that reconfigure before each match. Developers say the map can produce hundreds of unique layouts, allowing teams to face different terrain and chokepoints across matches.

The beta includes a playable single-player mission titled Entrenched, offering a campaign preview ahead of launch. The game’s campaign continues the storyline from 2023’s Modern Warfare 3, follows Private Park, a South Korean soldier, and returns characters such as Captain Price, Ghost and Valeria Garza. Missions are set in locations including New York, South Korea, Paris and Mumbai.

Multiplayer will launch with 12 core maps, with additional maps planned for future seasonal updates. The beta will let players evaluate map design, match flow and how Kill Block’s reconfigurations affect 6v6 combat and map control.

The game will also bring back the DMZ extraction mode introduced in 2022. In its full release, DMZ will allow solo players or squads to complete objectives, fight enemy forces, gather loot and attempt an extraction under changing conditions, with exclusive rewards available for successful runs.
