Montgomery: Firesprite worked on Until Dawn 2 for 4 years

Dacre Montgomery wrote on Instagram he joined the PS5-exclusive Until Dawn 2 in 2022 and that Firesprite has developed it for at least four years; release is planned for 2027.

Actor Dacre Montgomery wrote on Instagram that he joined the PlayStation 5 exclusive Until Dawn 2 in 2022 and that UK studio Firesprite has been developing the game for at least four years. The project is scheduled for release in 2027.

The sequel centers on a ghost-hunting group that runs a paranormal YouTube channel called Dead True. After signing a deal with a television network, the crew travels to a tropical island to film their first high-budget production, where they confront events the post describes as potentially supernatural.

Firesprite is leading development on the title. The studio’s previous release was Horizon: Call of the Mountain in 2023. Montgomery’s timeline indicates work on Until Dawn 2 began during or shortly after that period.

On Instagram Montgomery wrote he had been “floored by the commitment of those who’ve poured their lives into this world for the last many, many years” and added he was “so excited it’s coming to a console near you.”

Until Dawn was created by Supermassive Games; development of the sequel has moved to Firesprite and the game will be exclusive to PlayStation 5. Firesprite and Sony have not released extensive gameplay footage or a full cast list beyond Montgomery’s confirmation. Further announcements are expected as the studio progresses toward the 2027 launch.
