Moss: The Forgotten Relic bundles both PSVR games
Moss: The Forgotten Relic packages both Moss VR titles into a reworked flat-screen edition playable without a PSVR2 headset, due this summer.
Developer Polyarc will release Moss: The Forgotten Relic, a single edition that combines both Moss VR games into a reworked flat-screen version playable without a PSVR2 headset. The release is scheduled for this summer. The developer has not listed specific platforms beyond general flat-screen support.
Polyarc is converting the original Moss and its sequel from virtual reality into a non-VR “pancake” format. The studio says the package preserves each game’s core storylines and levels while reimagining visuals and presentation for conventional displays. Some tactile elements tied to headset perspective will not be present in the flat-screen edition.
The Moss games were built as seated VR experiences. Players guide Quill, a sword-wielding mouse, through puzzles and platforming encounters while interacting with the environment from a fixed viewpoint. Reviewers praised the titles for their level design, narrative focus and their selective use of virtual reality.
An editor focused on PlayStation coverage wrote, “If you can play them with PSVR2, then that’s what we’d recommend you do.” The editor added that the flat-screen edition provides an option for players who do not have access to VR hardware.
Polyarc recently carried out layoffs and has described financial challenges. Moss: The Forgotten Relic brings both games together in one package and will be playable from start to finish without a headset when it launches this summer.
