Muramasa: Revenant Blades coming to PS5 in early 2027
An enhanced PS5 port of Vanillaware’s Muramasa: Revenant Blades, a rework of Muramasa Rebirth, will arrive in early 2027 for $49.99 with 4K support and new English voiceovers.
Vanillaware’s Muramasa: Revenant Blades will arrive on PlayStation 5 in early 2027 as an enhanced port of the studio’s PS Vita rework, Muramasa Rebirth. Marvelous will publish the PS5 edition and set a standard price of $49.99.
The release will include upgraded visuals with 4K support and a new English localization that adds voice work. The publisher has not provided a firm release date but the title is available to wishlist on the PlayStation Store.
A limited edition is priced at $89.99 and bundles the full game with an art book, a soundtrack CD and a 10×14-inch byobu folding screen. The standard edition will be sold separately at $49.99.
The game preserves the original structure of interwoven character stories. Players follow six protagonists whose lives intersect over samurai swords forged by Senji Muramasa; the blades grant power while driving wielders toward violence.
An overview from the publisher reads: “Deep in Japan’s past, a great conflict erupts over the ownership of fabled and powerful samurai swords forged by the legendary Senji Muramasa. These swords grant their owner both incredible power and a madness that can be sated only by blood.”
Muramasa first released as Muramasa: The Demon Blade on Nintendo’s Wii in 2009 and was later reworked for PlayStation Vita as Muramasa Rebirth. Revenant Blades is presented as an expanded version of the Vita release for current hardware.
Marvelous has confirmed the technical upgrades and the new English voice work but has not described platform-specific features beyond 4K support. Players can add the game to their PlayStation Store wishlist while a specific release date is pending.
