Netflix to stream extended Grand Theft Auto VI preview

Netflix will stream an exclusive extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI on Aug. 27, 2026, at 3 p.m. ET. The preview will be available only to Netflix subscribers and will include special trailer footage and bonus gameplay focused on the game’s two protagonists, Jason and Lucia.

Rockstar Games partnered with Netflix to give subscribers access to the footage before it appears on other platforms. Netflix described the presentation as a first look at the next chapter of the Grand Theft Auto series.

The extended look will show additional gameplay scenes and trailer material intended to convey how it feels to play as Jason and Lucia. Rockstar has kept precise gameplay mechanics and plot details under wraps, but the new footage is expected to expand on visuals and sequences from earlier trailers.

Grand Theft Auto VI follows Jason and Lucia after a botched score that draws them into a criminal conspiracy across the state of Leonida. The game is set in a sunlit region of the United States and focuses on the pair’s efforts to survive and escape the criminal network. Rockstar confirmed the full game will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on Nov. 19, 2026.

Rockstar has released two main trailers to date; the Netflix presentation serves as a third major showcase ahead of the game’s global release.

Brandon Riegg, Netflix’s vice president of nonfiction series, called Grand Theft Auto reveals ‘cultural moments in their own right’ and described the partnership as a way to debut the next part of the story with Netflix members first.

Netflix and Rockstar have not announced whether the extended look will be a timed exclusive or if the footage will later appear on other platforms. Subscribers can tune in on Aug. 27 to view the content.
