Nintendo Apologizes After Switch 2 Price Hike

Nintendo apologized after raising the Switch 2’s price, blaming component shortages and higher production costs and thanking customers and partners for their understanding.

Nintendo apologized after increasing the retail price of the Nintendo Switch 2, citing shortages of electronic components and rising production costs. In a company statement, Nintendo wrote that supply constraints and broader market shifts forced the company to revise the console’s price.

The statement noted that other major console makers, including Sony and Microsoft, have also adjusted pricing in response to similar supply challenges.

The company acknowledged the effect on buyers and business partners and wrote, “We sincerely apologize for the impact these price revisions may have on our customers and other stakeholders and we deeply appreciate your understanding.” The statement thanked customers and partners for their patience as Nintendo works through the supply situation.

The Switch 2 has attracted strong consumer interest since launch. Company executives noted the adjustment reflects external cost pressures rather than a change in the product’s market positioning.

Shortages of semiconductors and other components have increased manufacturing costs for a range of consumer electronics. Those industry-wide supply constraints have contributed to recent price adjustments across the console market.

Nintendo did not provide new pricing details in the statement. The company asked for understanding as it adapts to higher production costs driven by the supply situation.
