Nintendo Direct: Ocarina of Time Reborn, KINGDOM HEARTS IV

Nintendo’s June 9 Direct announced The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time reborn for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026, debuted a KINGDOM HEARTS IV trailer and detailed release dates and upgrades.

Nintendo hosted a Direct broadcast on June 9 that outlined games and release plans for the Nintendo Switch 2 and the current Switch. The presentation confirmed The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will be rebuilt and released exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026 and debuted a trailer for KINGDOM HEARTS IV, which Nintendo said will be available at launch on the new hardware.

Nintendo announced a KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] for Nintendo Switch 2 arriving Oct. 8. The collection includes earlier numbered entries and KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind; players who own the cloud version on the current Switch can buy the Switch 2 version at a discounted rate. A demo of KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind appeared on Nintendo eShop after the presentation.

Several Switch 2 exclusives and launch-window titles received dates. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, set on Wuhu Island and using new Joy-Con 2 motion and mouse-style controls, will launch Oct. 22 on Switch 2. Splatoon Raiders, a single-player-focused entry, is scheduled for July 23 with preorders open and a dedicated Splatoon Raiders Direct set for June 30. A cinematic reimagining of Star Fox 64, featuring full voice acting, orchestral music and optional mouse targeting with Joy-Con 2, will arrive June 25 with an eShop demo available.

Nintendo confirmed multiple remasters and Switch 2 Edition upgrades. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition received a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition offering up to 4K on compatible TVs and 60 fps in handheld mode; its digital Switch 2 Edition launched the same day. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and 3 are scheduled to receive Switch 2 Editions on July 30 and Dec. 3, respectively. Minecraft for Switch 2 will include a Vibrant Visuals graphics upgrade, a Super Mario Mash-Up Pack and a save transfer option from the current Switch edition.

Third-party and indie releases were placed across the calendar. Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen arrives Oct. 9; Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition launched June 23; Rhythm Heaven Groove is due July 2; Rayman Legends Retold is set for Oct. 1; and Lies of P: Complete Edition will arrive Aug. 6. New entries announced include Xenoblade Genesis (2027), Ninjala 2 (spring 2027) and Pikuniku 2 (2027). Several additional titles received Switch 2 release windows extending into 2027.

Live-service updates and events were announced. Pokémon Pokopia will get a free August update adding underwater exploration via the Dive move and a paid Expansion Pass whose first part, Bubbly Basin, launches in August. DELTARUNE Chapter 5 will release as a free update on June 24 for both Switch and Switch 2. Nintendo also outlined a limited-time DK Challenge event in Nintendo Switch Online and new event content for Donkey Kong Bananza tied to Super Mario collaboration items.

Nintendo highlighted Switch 2-specific features across multiple games, including higher-resolution output and frame rates, Joy-Con 2 motion and mouse controls, and a GameChat feature for shared play. Preorder windows opened for many titles after the Direct. Nintendo said more details and additional game announcements will be provided in future updates.
