Nintendo Music 1.6 Adds iPad, CarPlay and Mario Kart OST

Nintendo released Nintendo Music v1.6.0 with iPad support, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a web player and the Mario Kart World OST (130 tracks, 4+ hours; free for Nintendo Switch Online members).

Nintendo released Version 1.6.0 of the Nintendo Music app for iOS and Android, adding support for iPad, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a browser-based player and the Mario Kart World original soundtrack.

The update expands compatibility for larger screens, including tablets and foldable phones. On Apple devices the app runs on iPad and can connect to CarPlay, with Siri-enabled track search and control through a car’s built-in display. On Android devices the app supports full-screen display on larger devices and integrates with Android Auto, including voice commands and use on a vehicle’s display.

Nintendo also launched a web player that lets users stream Nintendo Music from a desktop browser without installing the mobile app.

The Mario Kart World original soundtrack added with the release includes 130 tracks totaling more than four hours of music. The soundtrack is available at no extra charge for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.

The update includes curated playlists focused on Battle Modes and Free Roam with Super Mario Kart, and an Extended-Playback Collection that loops selected tracks for continuous listening.

Patch notes for Version 1.6.0 list the platform-specific changes. On Apple devices the app now supports iPad, CarPlay and searching for tracks with Siri. On Android devices the app now supports full-screen display on large devices such as tablets and foldable phones and Android Auto integration with display and voice control.

Nintendo provided the version and feature details in its release notes but did not include download or usage figures in the notes.
