Nintendo posts opening cinematic for Yoshi and Mysterious Book

Nintendo posted the opening cinematic for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, showing Bowser Jr. discovering the Mysterious Book. The clip appeared online ahead of the game’s Thursday launch.

The short, fully animated sequence outlines the game’s setup and was released alongside a new trailer timed to MAR10 Day promotions.

Early reviews are positive: the title holds an 80 aggregate score on Metacritic based on early reviews. Reporters have published hands-on coverage and gameplay clips, including a 15-minute gameplay video. We have delayed our full review to publish a complete assessment after the game is available.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book uses a hand-drawn 2D art style and alters standard platforming mechanics. In normal play, Yoshi does not take damage or die; the design emphasizes exploration, puzzles and discovery. Players encounter a variety of plants and creatures across levels built around environmental puzzles.

Nintendo has opened pre-orders for the game. The digital edition is listed at $60 and shows a download size of about 20GB. The company previously announced the title for its next console generation under the Nintendo Switch 2 name, and promotional materials highlight the illustrated aesthetic and the book-centered narrative.
